Like you, our greatest concern is the well-being of your pet. Our doctor will perform a full physical examination prior to anesthesia, but many conditions cannot be detected with an exam alone. Our in-house laboratory will provide rapid results regarding your pet’s internal organ health prior to the anesthetic procedure. If there are any abnormalities, we will call you to discuss it before anesthesia is administered. Please keep in mind, it is not possible for every species to have pre-op blood work (as will be discussed by the doctor). Implanting a HOME AGAIN microchip requires a large needle and is ideally performed while your pet is already under anesthesia. Please indicate your choice below:

Prior to anesthesia, it is safest to perform chest x-rays. These x-rays allow us to evaluate your pet’s heart size and evidence of metastatic lung cancer, as well as other pathology. This test is recommended for all pets, but STRONGLY recommended for all pets over the age of 6 years.

Many exotic species have a decreased appetite for several days after anesthesia. We advise having a supply of food (Oxbow Critical Care) that can be fed by a syringe in an emergency.

Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus is a very serious contagious disease that can cause death. We advise that all rabbits are vaccinated for it regardless of whether they live in or outside.
